The difference between motor and generator
Transforming energy from one form to another is a way to understand the difference between motor and generator. The motor will transform electrical energy into mechanical energy and provide power for machinery. The purpose of the generator is just the opposite, which is to convert mechanical energy into electrical energy.
Although there are significant differences in functions, the basic mechanism and structure of generators and motors are similar, and they all depend on important physical laws.
Convert energy into electric energy
Generators are divided into two categories, "generators" and "alternators", and direct current generators and alternators. According to Faraday's law of induction, whenever the magnetic field on a conductor changes, electrons will move perpendicular to the magnetic field, which will generate electromotive force, thus generating electron flow. This is what is used to generate electricity in the generator. In order to generate this magnetic flux, the magnet and the conductor move relatively close to each other, and the wires will be wound into a tight coil, thereby increasing the number of wires and generating electromotive force. By continuously rotating the coil or magnet while keeping the other in place, it will provide continuous magnetic flux change and eventually generate continuous electric energy.
Convert electric energy into mechanical energy
The motor is a kind of equipment that converts electric energy into mechanical energy. It uses an electrified coil to generate a rotating magnetic field and acts on the rotor to form a magnetoelectric rotating torque. The motors are divided into DC motors and AC motors according to different power sources. Most of the motors in the power system are AC motors, which can be synchronous motors or asynchronous motors. The motor is mainly composed of a stator and a rotor, and the direction of the forced movement of the conducting wire in the magnetic field is related to the current direction and the magnetic induction line direction. The working principle of the motor is that the magnetic field exerts force on the current, which makes the motor rotate.
At present, our volcano motors are all motor types. Although the structure is similar, it cannot be used as a generator. upporting the forward and reverse rotation of the motor does not mean that the motor can be used as a generator in reverse.
